Trip to Mt Airly, Capertee, where we will venture into the "Valley of The Dinosaurs" & check out some local campgrounds of the Genowlan Plateau & the location of the old abandoned Diamond Mine.
The trip is rated as medium to difficult as it is a loose surface & fairly steep with a lot of switch backs. Low range & high clearance will be required, however if you like you could leave your vehicle at the bottom & travel up with someone else if need be.
The top section of the track is rated as extreme where we might catch others in their heavily modified 4WD trucks attempting that section of the track. We can walk some of it as a demonstration of an extreme track, if you like.
Make sure you bring drinking water & a lunch pack, although we can stop off at the Capertee Hotel for a soft drink on the way home, not sure if their kitchen will be open by the time we get there.
Please bring a UHF radio, your recovery gear suitable to your vehicle, 12v compressor and tyre deflation equipment.
We will meet up at the Clarence Pirie carpark (opposite the BP petrol station) in Capertee at 8.30am for a 9.00am departure.
